Kim’s Memorial
I said goodbye to my friend Kim last Friday. I was dreading saying a final goodbye to a man I loved very much. It turns out; it was easier than I thought. Why was it easier? The event was a celebration of his life. It doesn’t matter that Kim was a successful TV comedy writer, all of his professional accomplishments pale in comparison to the man. His wit, compassion and ability to make each and every person (except for network honchos) feel as if they were the most important person in his life. Child after child stood up and praised the man who loved, cherished and accepted them. Colleagues praised his wit and skill. Friends shared their loving stories, it was beautiful. It made letting go easier. It doesn’t mean that I miss him less, I actually miss him more. I miss his concern, I miss his laugh and I miss his undeniable love for his friends and family. I miss his love for me. At the end of our lives, we should all be celebrated with such enthusiasm. Goodbye Kim.
* Sorry I don’t know how to link on Wordpress yet. I am sure it is simple but lame ass can’t figure it out. If you’ve been reading for awhile you will remember my previous tribute to Kim. When I figure it out, or when Chris shares the knowledge I will add the links. Thanks.
